Current wave height is stomach to chest with an on-shore wind. The sections are getting knocked over but there are open faces for about 3 seconds. The forecast is for building surf that will peak out by Friday evening. Once we get into Saturday, wave height will drop and the wind will turn off-shore. The on-shore has moved the H2O up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit: NOTE: WE STILL HAVE A GREAT SELECTION OF USED RENTAL BOARDS FROM LAST YEAR THAT WE ARE SELLING BELOW WHOLESALE. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Yesterday was a decent surf day. But today Corolla has a change in wind direction which has chopped up surface conditions. The ENE wind blowing at 17 to 20 mph has created rough surf. Wave height is waist plus and there is a side shore current running north to south. But the sun is out and air temps are around 60 degrees. H2O temp is 48 degrees. Once we get into April, we should see a jump in H2O temps into the low 50’s. Finally, surf to brag about! The OBX had solid swell yesterday and the good news is that it is continuing today. Wave height is at least waist to stomach high. WE still have a wind that is coming off-shore at 14 mph. Tomorrow’s forecast is for a switching wind coming on-shore. So if you have an opportunity to get out today and surf today: GO FOR IT!

Another great beach day but very small surf. The tide is flipping while I’m writing this report. (Going from Low to High.) If there is any chance at all of catching some surf, then I would recommend check ing a very shallow sand bar within an hour. Water temp did take a jump up to 48 degrees Fahrenheit. NOTE: YES, WE HAVE NEW STAND-UP PADDLE BOARDS IN STOCK. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

If I was only rated the weather, I would easily give today a 7-8 out of 10, but that’s not my job. The wind is out of the SSW at 14 mph and Corolla is coming out of low tide going to high. Unfortunately, wave height is ankle slapper to a wanna be knee cap high. There is a lack of any ground swell and a steady off-shore wind. But the wave prognosticators are calling for an increase in swell within 2 days. NOTE: GOOD NEWS: WE JUST A DELIVERY ON BRAND NEW SUPS. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

The NE wind continues to chop up the ocean creating rough surf. Wave height is about thigh to stomach at low tide. The wind is blowing at 25 mph+. This is leaving anyone that is on the beach feeling a wind chill in the low 30’s. The forecasters are predicting warmer weather with a switch in wind to the SW: GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

I was woken up late last night by loud thunder. Although the storm came from SSW, this warm weather pattern allowed the wind to switch and come out of the North at 33 mph. You can tell by the pictures that surface conditions are choppy and wave height is thigh to waist, but there is no definition to the sections. NOTE: GIFT CERTIFICATES ARE A GREAT GIFT. Nice way to celebrate the 1st day of spring. I took these pictures in front of my home break with an incoming tide. Wave height is waist to chest and the wind is off-shore out of the WSW. Since I have snapped the pics, the sun has come out which has pushed the air temps up to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. My recommendation is to watch your favorite sandbar and see how it is breaking. Hey waist high, off-shore and 60 degrees: NOTE: COROLLA SURF SHOP IS LOOKING FOR A FEMALE SALES ASSOCIATE TO WORK IN OUR STORE THIS SUMMER. Conditions are slowly starting to clean up. Wave height has dropped from overhead to about head high. More importantly, wind speed has dropped which is helping surface conditions. Our best recommendation is wait a day. The forecast is for an off-shore wind within 24 to 36 hours. It is still rough surface conditions due to an side-shore ENE wind: NOTE: COMING DOWN FOR PRING BREAK? WE RENT FULL SUITS, BOOTS, GLOVES AND HOODS. GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

Corolla currently has a strong 31 to 35 mph coming out of the ENE. That means the northern OBX is in the beginning stages of a Nor’easter. I took these pictures just north of the Corolla horse fence. Wave height is over head with a strong side shore current running to north to south. The ocean is very rough and out of control. If you are down here on the OBX, please stay out of the ocean until conditions clam down. All ocean rescue services won’t begin beach/ocean safety until Memorial Day: GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

I took these pictures right after high tide. As you can see we have Lake Atlantic conditions. H2O and air are matching each other at 48 degrees. If there is any slim chance of catching a wave, check out a very shallow sand bar closer to low tide: NOTE: WE OFFER KITEBOARDING LESSONS!!! GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

This is probably the best surf I have seen all week. Wave height is stomach plus. Swell direction is out of the ENE and wind direction is out of the NNW. My best guess is that the surf will be ‘rideable’ once the tide drops. I took these pictures in Ocean Hills where last fall I had a couple decent sessions. NOTE: WE ARE OPEN! The wind has finally calmed down and turned off-shore, Wave height is only knee cap but we are heading into low tide. The swell direction is from ENE and we have an off-shore wind. This is creating shore breakers lefts. There is a very quick left to be had as long as you kick out of the wave asap. NOTE: YES, WE HAVE BOOTS, GLOVES AND HOODS! GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP

The warm front that feed the winter storm in ENE has left us. This has been replaced by a cold front from the west. Corolla still has swell left from yesterday’s ground swell. Current wave height is over head and the wind is blowing at 23 mph plus. The bad news: Corolla has a wind chill in the mid teens. NOTE: WE STILL HAVE USED EQUIPMENT FROM 2016 THAT WE ARE SELLING OFF! A dramatic out of control ocean! Wave height is well overhead, out-going tide and rough seas. I just took these pictures on the north. The wind is WNW and the swell direction is ESE. This equation is holding the sections up & making for some great pictures. But conditions are very rough & there is no reason to go in the surf until these conditions back off! NOTE: WE WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW THROUGH SUNDAY! GARY, COROLLA SURF SHOP
