http://www.surfline.com/travel/spot-check-new-smyrna-beach_42450/ On Surfline "spot check" the guy talking says that it is waist to chest high everyday? Has anybody surfed this spot? That stretch of beach looks pretty sick.
yeah i saw that.. it looks like a really cool beach but i checked the forecast and it was the same as everywhere near it. I think every day is an exaggeration.
i believe it picks up more swell than areas to the south....i.e. cocoa beach area. I was down there last year (mid summer) and kept driving the hour north to NSB and finding waves like this when it was knee-waist at best high elsewhere. In spots like this it was pretty obvious there were sand bars on the bottom forming nice wedgy peaks out of the small background swell.
That dude is barrel dodging... Good section too. Nah but NSB is always ridable. I don't know why.. If you go there you will give something. YouTube it
I agree - no place on the east coast is waist - chest every day, every other day or anything close. NSB is just a consistent spot that seems to bump up the size a bit over surrounding areas.
new smyrna is awsome i stayed there for a week and got good waves everyday. driving on the beach is the best part you just keep goin till u find a good spot and the waves are always fun. nice size and powerful kinda like jersey but there is sand bars for miles. sick party scene too
