Pssssst. Yeah right. We all know that S. swells bring in cold ass water. But, shouldn't the reports reflect that? I mean it's not rocket science. But, 75 degrees comon? It was like 10 degrees colder then that and that's being generous. Felt more like 60. Feet got slightly numb. I can deal with the on/off reports since they are a challenge to predict. But a current water temp shouldn't be a problem. Water temp will either make or break your session if you are not prepared for it.

Lesson learned...... bring your wetsuit all the time.

summertime surf rule: if you're driving to the surf, pack a 3/2, 3mil booties, short-arm full, boardies, & a wetsuit top.

eh the buoys are farther out so they may not get affected by upwelling (or the whatever process that makes it cold) as much

Yeah that cold water is right along the shore. The water further out is way warmer. You can even feel as you paddle out, the further you go the warmer it gets.

all that warm water gets pushed right out. if you're ever in a boat when there's a south wind, you would be able to feel the warm water out past the beach

The temp of the water is around 67 degrees right now with all the south wind we've had.

nay, zippy. 63-65 seems well to me. i will not wear a 3/2 in the summer, a s/s arm full is as thick as i get, and i was a tad hott today in it. of course i'm from south jerz so it may be warmer than monmouth co

I'm from Maryland and it was freezing over the last few days with the coldest on the beach being around 58. You could have surfed it without a suit but damn you would have lasted about 30 minutes before you needed to take a break and bake in the sun. A wore a suit everyday this week to ride these pitiful waves. I hate feeling cold.

That sucks! Skinned it for 2 1/2 hours this morning in DE...water was def low-mid 70s. might have been a couple degrees cooler yesterday and tuesday...maybe 70 or so. Comfy in the boardies even at daybreak.

I wore boardies and a 1.5 mm hyperfreak wetty top this morning. Was in a little pain for about 5 minutes and then was fine temperature-wise. Too bad the surf was weak and below average. Gonna be a tough day to stay above the weather, staying inside might be the best bet.
