Anyone got any good surf movies worth a watch? I'm not talking vimeo or anything like youtube quality. Im talking point break or chasing mavericks good
Go slowly at first. Start with the epic horrendous flicks. Not sayin' 'Gidget.' Try the one with all the faux beaver, what was it, 'Blue Balls' or 'Blue Crush' or some such inane crap. Then move to the one where Bethany Hamilton gets her arm ripped off by a tiger. If you watch that one very closely, maybe view the entire movie in super-super-duper-slo-mo, you'll see waynetheinsaaaaane sprinting through the koa trees pursued by really fat, cronut-addicted, murderous cops from Hawaii 5-oh and FLA CPS. The reason for the insaaaane's appearance in 'Soul Surfer' (although said appearance is/was unauthorized & unpaid, and word has it that the producers had to hire the Da Hui to keep the nutbag from abducting Bethany) is that waynetheinsaaaaane heard that Bethany was re-born after the whole el tigre lunch experience. And so Bethany's subsequent transformation into a brainwashed disciple of hayzeus effing keeerist drew him in like a fly to, well, you know. Anyways.....surfing.....the insaaaane one on the lam.....two for the price of one. Incredible value.
Watched dark fall today at work. Fantastic movie good recommendation. I had never heard of the movie gidget but im downloading it now. This thread needs love...
Big Wave Tahiti on Netflix is great. Watched it twice. (Features Kelly Slater) It's a documentary but it's still a great watch.
Bustin Down the Door ol' sport Sorry...We're Open I am referring to you ol' sport when I say "ol' sport" because I am aware of the Gatsby. Represent your caste dude. The name of the movie is not Bustin' Down the Door ol' sport but it does make one think that it will morph into an Old Spice commercial that turns into a porno with the real life Gidget...but she is really old, doesn't resist, and knows all the tricks from Grandma's Boy. She is like the 4th chick to finger a dude's back door while snackin on his Johnson...with no dentures... Perhaps the AARP will come out with the newest catch phrase of the season, "Dentures out, don't shoot". She could probably cook. A lot of older women are great cooks. Am I right? How do you know?
analog now. chippa wilson, andrew doheny and tom thum putting on a show. east side story. NY surfer, whose personality i don't really like, but i can relate to the size of the waves they surf. ps i hate step into liquid and i hate myself for owning it
Endless Summer (both I and II) required. Two non-docu surf films probably no better or worse than Chasing Mavericks or Soul Surfer: Beautiful Wave (Cabo road trip) Blue Juice (Cornwall ENG + young Catherine Zeta-Jones)
Really enjoyed "One California Day" "A visual journey through 6 distinct coastal regions, capturing the California surfing experience through the surfers who live it. Shot in super 16mm film, the movie examines the variety of subtle differences that make California so unique."
