    Water was freaking cold in monmouth county today. Also, if you look at the north carolina reports and pictures, it doesn't look like 3-4 feet. IF that is how it's measured, then it was easy 5-6 up here.

    Just checked it doesn't seem too cold. But it doesn't seem worth going out at my local spot if I drive anywhere it will be dark and not worth it.

    I swear the darkness skunks nj in the winter more than the cold.

    the why in the equation lies in the surface to volume ratio of the back bay/hudson river.

    That station is inside the bay. So it's picked up the ice water coming out of the shallow rivers and bay, which is much colder than the ocean.

    Ocean is about 45

    Hey man I just went surf in ctown the other day it was 20 out side eat that New Jersey and windy as **** hardcore sc lokals hold it down

    Got a few even waist high waves today in dirty jersey , water dropped a few degrees probably upper 30's , duck dive two waves and the ice-cream headaches kick in . Fun thou . and empty .

    yes and no.
    colder in sojersey; more back bay.
    in january 45 deg quotes from the buoys are irrelevant.

    exactly. all that melt water hugs the coast, pushing the water temps down, down, down.
