To be honest the waves look fun, but I'll pass on blizzard conditions. Maybe some of this without the snow would be better? http://easternsurf.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=1863:the-montauk-boys-vs-juno&Itemid=123
I think the lame TWC named the strom "Juno"...that is pretty crazy if you ask me...and cool. I would likely be dumb enough to go out there..
Hey sorry, guess thats confusing and didn't realize there might be a mix up. The storm was named "juno" by the weather channel or some such as a means to identify the specific storms dumping snow upon the northeast.
It's mission creep. First they started reporting wind chill to get the excitement going. Now they're naming winter storms. What's next?
NWS does not recognize TWC's winter storm naming, which I agree with, and find comical. TWC thrives on drama and social media these days, which is so lame. It's funny to think about how TWC used to be my primary surf forecasting source back in the day. TWC used to be always on in surf shops, now, not so much. I can't stand when TWC (or drama Jim Cantori) talks about beach erosion like it's some crazy, evil, alien force. Beach erosion is normal, it happens at some level daily, and has been going on for billions of years. We are just idiots for building so close to the water and expecting the ocean to keep it's distance from "our" property. Steve Lyons was cool, but he's outa' there.
Dr. Steve Lyons was a legend. His forehead was so large he could feel impending pressure drops before they were measurable on man made instruments.
Very true. I used to look at "Local on the 8s" to determine to go or not, which included wave size, and now have cute "saying" instead. I actually wrote them a nice, polite email, and they basically told me to phuck myself. But what else can you expect from NBC--once they bought the station, morons rule, and a downhill slide began. They are completely useless now. They got rid of Lyons because "he was too scientific". Really??
