    Hey,

So I got banned (with my house keys taken and everything) from going to the beach and surfing this winter (FML), long story, and so now I'm looking to invest in a good skateboard, like something that I can carve with but also something that has manuverability. Does anyone know where I can get a good board on the cheap? I dont want a crappy china board from like target but I cant afford to buy anything too expensive.

I'm not sure why you would be banned from surfing just because mommy or wifey kicked you out of the house.... and thank you for sparing us the "long story"

Craigslist! but I would say get your gear to a friends house (or borrow) and tell grams you are going over to her house or to skate or something and then paddle out!

When I was a fresh in High School my friends and I took off to Hatteras from NJ without telling any of our parents for a long weekend camping. My mom called my cell and noticed I was gone as we were leaving NJ and told me I would pay the price when I got back so I figured I was gonna be grounded for the rest of the summer or something like three months. I got back and she said my punishment was having to worry about what my punishment would be while I was on "vacation". She also took my brand new board away for the rest of the summer (about a month). I stored my buddies board at a different friends house down the street and would tell her I was going "out". I would go grab the board and charge it!

It was worth it! We scored 5-6 ft. hollow barrells the first day we were down there.

Anyway, craigslist or work out a trade with a friend or something. i would go for a gravity with the stick on kick tail for power slides.

BB I ride a FlexDex RT Classic 29 and they have them on there site discounted for blems, other models too in your price range. It's not a real long (length wise) board but they have a great surfy feel to them. I like riding single fins and it gives me the same type of feeling, real fast too. Check them out.http://flexdex.com/blems.html

Gravity skateboards are really great. The carve 39 might be good for you it is a really great all around board for cruising, carving and even getting serious in pools, parks, ditches etc. Gravity's are also reasonably priced. You can get on around $150.

Strangely, the best skateboard I've ever ridden was a board I pieced together myself. That way everything was exactly to my liking. Early 80s style deck, Really old "street shadow" Gullwing trucks (actually from the 80s), and new wheels, bearings, and some Medium-light bushings. It carves great, turns like a champ, and rides as smooth as a longboard. Good luck with whatever route you go.
