If the new xcel wetsuit is a 2/1 springsuit then you won't need gloves.

Uh, did you mention anything about waveriding all winter long, in the nor'easter winds, or only until the water drops to 60F?

Water temp here is in the low 60s. I might throw on the 3mm boots... or I might not. Once I start to get numb spots on my feet... usually my heel and my little toe... I'll put the boots on. I can't surf good with numb feet.

Once the 5mm full goes on, the 5mm boots and gloves go on, too. SmartWool socks under the boots.

I hate when my feet get cold. Once I get out, it takes all day to get them warm again. I discovered last winter that smart wool or poly socks under the boots make a big difference. Feet stay nice and toasty. Plus it makes it much easier getting the boots on and off.

I am starting to wear boots, I would rather be a little warm than to have my feet cold. I don't care if others look at me and ask my why I am wearing them when after an hour or so they complain about their feet.

    not cold yet.
    under 60 = boots.
    and gloves.

i'm always surprised by gloveless guys in under water under 60.

better to air on the side of caution if it's in between and you're not sure if you need boots/gloves yet. I'll take a longer overheated sesh over a shortened colder sesh anyday.

    Are you serious

You wear boots and gloves at 60!

ill rock boots after it dips into the high 50s but not gloves, around 48ish ill wear gloves I just put my hands under my armpits in betweem sets. I dont like gloves but dont mind wearing boots, go figure.
