U guys have INSANE standards for waves. Complain when its flat....now its not flat and you complain about wind, tide, closeouts exc. Its beachbreaks and windswell. Take what you can get. U guys must not surf much or know where to check. Must be some really good surfers on here who wouldnt dare to paddle out on anything thats not epic.

Is there such thing as epic anyway? If its that big people complain about closeouts or dumping. Then if its say head high people say it was ok, weak, disorganised. I just dont know.

Ive had a blast this winter. Gotta go out, It is always more fun than crossing your arms on the beach and saying......"Ive seen better"

Different standards for winter and summer. If it was summer I would have been doing backflips over what I saw in town this morning. With all the rubber etc. the afternoon was better and a better balance of fun verses exhaustion. I will be the first to admit that I have no need for death defying airdrops into bottomless pits. I would rather a more mellow fun wave over a super intense wave anyday. I would not consider any wave I saw today overly intense just not much payoff for the effort until the afternoon.

Was pretty awesome at my spot spot. Head high sets coming in at 3pm glassy and offshore with a light spray with rainbows forming inside the spray, birds floating in the water, seagulls chirping, and the sun shining with nobody around. haha

    had fun!

yeah surf was good in the MD area today. Just maybe not in the OCMD area. Don't be a putz and check the right spots. I was out from 12-3 and it was really good even with the stiff wind and the receding tide. Everyone out was happy with the waves but a lot of frustration checking spots. Such is life.

Hey Zach, I'll be in SD next week. Any general tips appreciated, looks like some decent north energy on the models.

Think about it man. No paddling, no correct grip on the board, no aerials. Why would I stress it when it's a torn rotator cuff? I'll be fine for a while shooting photos from the beach. On that note, anyone wanna shoot? Lemme know where in OC I'll show up :)

I have 7 months to take as many trips as possible before all freedom halts with the wonder that is child birth.

I kid, I kid, but seriously, it's a good excuse for the wife.

...because someplace else the water is 80F. Except during the upwelling spots when it gets down to the low-70s.

Cool. I will be in La Jolla all week as well. Working. Surfing. I PMed Skeg. So, let me know when you guys touch down and we can meet up for a surf if you guys have time. I invited him over to the restaurant as well. If you are in La Jolla all week, you will probably walk in here at some point anyway.

Ive got about 4+ months as well! Trying to get some serious time in the water until then. I have a system in place so I will still have plenty of time in the water, but I have a feeling I won't be thinking of surfing for a while once I see that child! Congrats bro! We will always get our water time! My golf career is now shot, but that is an easy trade for an hour of surf here and there... Its hard to justify 5 hours on a golf course!

I didn't see the exact dates in his PM, but the next 7-10 days are looking plenty good. From the message, it sounded like you guys are heading over soon. Everything from Blacks down to Sunset Cliffs will be firing from the NWs. Looking forward to it! Blacks is looking sick right now. Offshore. Beautiful. Its hard to get any work done staring at it all day!

We'll be around Mon-Fri. Looking like solid swell the whole time, pretty stoked. We'll stop by at some point.

On the surfline ocmd cam, there is someone with a funboard struggling to get up in the whitewater. hmmm.... guess the guy get's some respect for learning to surf when he's not going to be getting in anybody's way.
