guys i have a burton snowboard and got some 5150 bindings and the mounting plate for the bindings have different holes than what the board has. ive been able to get 2 screws in on the opposite sides of the plate but every other hole wont line up. do i need to use a different plate or the one from the old bindings which are bigger but they are both the same size? any help would be very appreciated as im going to hit the mountains this weekend.

yea i had this problem with technine bindings and a burton snowboard. you definatley want base plates that fit your board. but you probly wont get the right ones by this weekend if at all. i got really lucky because i bought some base plates off some kid in the lodge. you could try contacting the binding company or maybe even burton but you definatley dont want to ride with just 2 screws holding each binding....i guess it would be ok for just one day but its still risking it. good luck, its gonna be a pain in the A$$

I had the same problem, each binding company usually has a baseplate made for burton snowboards, i think they call it a unidisk, anyways i just emailed technine and asked them for one and they sent it.. you could try your local shops first though

yea i tried that but the only base plates the shop can order you are the only base plates from the company's warehouse, who only had base plates from the current year's models....

yeah burton does this on purpose. normal baseplates won't fit their 3 hole boards, and burton baseplates won't fit into everyone elses bindings. they use bigger cog grooves. running two screws on each will be fine, just tighten them every few hours but i doubt they'll even get loose.

My buddy rides with just the 2 screws in, it holds fine. You just may need to tighten them once or twice during the day.

Get the problem fixed correctly. You should be able to get baseplates that work. You should have a minimum of 3 screws in each one evenly spaced. If you don't find what you need this weekend PM me I have a box full of binding parts I've collected over the years, I might have something that will fix correctly.

Riding with 2 screws is a very bad idea. Have you ever seen what happens when a binding separates from a board when someone is flying down the mountain? Most likely you have not. I've been riding for a very long time and I've been through the evolution of boards, bindings and boot. In the early days there were various problems which caused binding to separate from the board, in numerous cases this ended up with severe knee, hip and leg injuries, some career ending. I watched my friend eat sh!t after his front binding inserts ripped out while making a toeside turn. It wasn't pretty.

I agree with ginsumagic, if you are really charging hard you definately want that fixed up right. I had a strap pop off once, and somehow miraculously saved myself from a serious tumble down the hill.

If Burton doesn't want your bindings to fit the board, they wont. They have done plenty of work to ensure that, and there is no way to get around it, except to buy some new bindings. I hit the same problem last year, and did plenty of research and went to plenty of shops. They ensure the the base-plates that fit their boards, dont fit into any bindings that they don't want you using, hence forcing you to buy a nice new expensive pair of bindings. Its an ahole move but it makes them a lot of money

I myself am moving away from Burton products. I've been riding Burton since the beginning and they've just become a "rich boys toy" The only reason I've been riding Burton so long is because I have a connection to get deals on them.

I've never owned a pair of burton boots that have lasted long than one season. Binding buckles on the high end bindings strip out quickly and the boards are only designed to last 80-90 days of riding.
Talked to a Burton rep once about it his quote "If we built them to last you wouldn't be new stuff as much"

I've been very happy with Arbor boards, Ride bindings are OK, I just need to find a good boot with a small footprint.

While were on the subject of snowboards. I do have a Brand New, Still in the wrapper, Burton Custom X 160 2008 Model that I'm thinking about selling.

Yes despite what I just said about Burton this is one of my favorite boards, I have three of them. I just don't think I'll use it anytime soon, been spending more time surfing than riding.

    Any one interested?

To the OP - the Burton discs are easy to find, not sure why everyone else had such a hard time. Every binding company makes a separate disc with Burton's hole pattern, most shops will have some that work or else you can find them online or from the binding manufacturer pretty easily.

As for me I've never been into Burton products, way overpriced for the quality. I currently have a Technine board and bindings, I've been really happy with the board but will prob try and find a pair of Union bindings for this season to replace the Technines, they aren't bad but I'm not thrilled with the fit.

Ginsu - check out ThirtyTwo boots. I've had a pair of Lashed for the past couple seasons that I love, they are pretty beat up since I ride a lot but they are super comfy.

this is why i hate burton products. they are expensive and they back you into a corner so you have no choice but to buy their stuff. the brand is so over hyped. there are so many other brands out there that make equal if not better products without the head ache and huge price tag. Personally im a Gnu fan but thats just me.
