First, let me introduce myself by saying I'm a New England guy that surfs a break that on a good day is waist-high mush. I'm definitely a beginner (level 3 on the Surf Simply scale). I don't bang hindus, I can't shot the pier and in a push-up contest I max out at about 2 reps. I think my wetsuite fits ok. I don't take candy from men in white vans offering 'salvation'. Second, apologies for starting yet another CR thread. Bear with me as I'm looking for different information. I'm looking for resorts/locations that offer a combination of the sandals/couples-type all inclusive deal and surfing, preferably quality instruction. The plan is to head to CR with my buddy who surfs and our wives in early December 2017. Our wives are looking to do very little- drink, yoga, beach, drink, pool, drink, relax, etc. Ideally, my buddy and I would go to Surf Simply or something really similar but our wives don't surf (don't even really like to be in the ocean) so a strictly surfing-only (or heavily focused) resort is out. I'd appreciate any advice people have here on resorts, schools, breaks, travel, etc. for this trip. I think the better a trip I can put together, the more happy my wife will be and the more she'll tolerate me spending most of my time in the water. Thanks in advance!
let me simple this down for you... your a kook and thats all youll ever be. your the type of person that goes to bali and stays in compound the whole time. oh and your wifes are hors. they cant do sht and sound like lazy ****s. you little rich types make me sick. come stay at a grand hilton in south carolina. there will be surfboards crosses burning in the hallways of your rooms, from the surfing kkk. your a puyc your nothing i bench 10 times more hard than you.
Thanks for the heads up. I got pretty excited but then saw that the rates were for one night, not one week. So yeah, outta my tax bracket.
Blasters is on fire lately ... SI regulator stepping in! As for you OP... I have to wonder if you're a troll. Does anyone really plan a trip 18 months in advance? Maybe to f*cking Mars, but Costa Rica? And Sandals? I guess you're a troll (Bradpitted?) or a Carnaval cruise type guy. It ain't rocket science, Costa has tourist pads out the wazoo for people like you. If you want to surf but your wife will get mad... well you probably chose your wife poorly. But hey, we all think with our d*ks sometimes. Stay somewhere like Jaco, or wherever the ****ty turista towns are. Then, on some days, you surf, while your wives are lying down in air conditioned hotel rooms, eating Tico sausage. On other days, you can go ziplining or horsebackriding with them, or whatever the f*ck you pasty people do. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a TGI Fridays down there. And learn some Spanish- you've got a year and a half. but ... 'Sandals' ... really?
Better yet, hit Miami beach...fuk man, your girls wont like the insects in CR. Don't go down there and kook up the beach for people that actually want a surf vacation.
After reading your post- I would just go to Hawaii or something. I mean Costa Rica is sweet and all- but your wife will probably like Hawaii better....
Go surf Typhoon Lagoon in Disney World Orlando, and hit the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Just like Costa Rica, but no salt water crocs. Your lovely wives will love it. You won't drown (Do you even swim?!?). You can thank me later.
1. butt hurt kook 2. floundering newbie 3. bouy 4. can stand up on a SUP 5. can bodysurf but can't swim 6. can shoulder hoppe but their shi* gets tossed in the O 7. average joe - surfs, eats, sleeps, repeat 8. shredder- throws the spray, shreds the gnar, busts rad airs 360s but land very few 9. Fuggin' Santa Terresa? I spent a month camping at Playa Carmen. It's been 10 years since I returned and my business fell together. gave up a house and a technical school to work on my own. my paradise has turned into yuppie heaven. God hath worked in mysterious ways.
You bonehead dweeb... RipJacks Inn at Playa Grande. p.s. Don't pay any attention to the punks on this forum. You'll be fine down there. The worst that could happen is your wives will get the clap from boinking the tico boys. And, you idiots wont catch a wave.
I think I'm a 6.917. Still get raped on the paddle out when its relentless. He is right about playa grande. Rip Jack is good, la majadera is quaint and next door, and bp surf hotel had pimp rooms and is also next door. Very nice spots. Find a "surf camp" like point break surf camp or something in the area--- they are $200 a day according to this couple we met, and that includes food and lodging. They will put you up at one of those hotels. I'm in tamarindo now. It's not that romantic. I mean the drug dealers kinda get my girl wet but that's about it. Playa Grande is more of a couples spot. There are two dozen surf camps in tamarindo but it's by no means serene. While you're there, paddle up the river mouth at high tide. The crocs won't bite. They're just curious.
Witches Rock Surf Camp in Tamarinda. Its a 'boutique surf resort' and gf friendly. I took a non surfer there and she hung out, tried to speak spanish, explored the town and set up side trips (horseback riding in the forest with Howler Monkeys, etc). They have staff, resources, etc. and can get you to waves, surf lessons, etc. On the pricey side but not crazy. That was 10 yrs ago, and things may be different but she was happy with it and I surfed decent waves.
This sounds like it could work. Just need a place where my wife won't get so bored she'll start following around the tico boys or drug dealers.
Cool. Saw your live-action thread and it sounds like your trip is pretty awesome. I'll take a look at Rip Jack, la majadera, and bp surf hotel. The whole goal with this thread is to find a place where I'm not just going to be an obstacle in the line-up for better surfers. Yeah, we're planning way in advance but we're figuring budget now so we can actually afford this ****.
If you stay at rip jack get one of the suites (newer section). Well worth extra$. Not much to do there though unless you drive (take her horse back riding in the mountains... Super cool to look out over the pacific while cruzin the hillside with chickiepoo on a horse). Little town north of Playa is cool ( can't remember name... Has cool shops, restaurants, and a beach/ lagoon with calm waves... Good place to take her swimming/ sunset/ happy hour.... Day trip.
Rip Jack is 45 a night right now. Play grande has miles of beach to surf. You can have a peak to yourself but it gets lonely out there in shark and croc territory. PM me for details.
