Hey guys, Beater Boards (Original 54 and so on), any good, fun for crap waves, anyone got one? I have a great surfboad, not looking to replace that or anything, but just checking it out maybe to widen the choice come those high tide shore breaks crap days. Can't find many reviews online for this so let me know what you think. (I think this flat spell is making everything look good, like right now a plank of wood and a ripple would look amazing) Peace
Its a sweet board but seems a little sketch for skimming because it does bend quite a bit. Itd be sweet on a waist high day for stand up or just getting slammed into the sand in some shorebreak. My buddy got one and he likes it a lot. I'd suggest the Toobs Herlihy because mine has lasted 4 years and its still good conition but its twice the price so thats for you to decide. Hope this helped braddah.
i loosely copied one. shaped out of xps and 3 layers of 6oz cloth on the deck. made it an even 60 inches/5 feet. single keel fin from a broken foam board. works pretty good for just messing around. I think the Beaters are like 150 bucks....if you get the finless you can ride it at any beach. Seems like a good option for showing off for the babes in the summer time
I say get the herlihy, they're awesome. Good for any small day, just to bodyboard on, i love mine. Got it cheap too, along with some 75 dollar flippers, got those for 10 bucks. I love antique shops
i got one 2 years ago. its fun but it def beats the s h i t out of you if you try and skim it. its fun to body board and stand up on in bigger surf. i wanna get a catch surf y quad they also look super fun in little mushy surf. Heres a pic of my Beater
