Tried searching the subject, didn't find anything.
Which brand do you think is the most durable?
They always seem to give at one of the connections, sooner or later.
    I always rinse them, that's a ritual.
    Your best brand?

DaKine and OAM, not to be confused with Da Hui and the black boardies

My FCS leash has done me well for several years. Also just picked up a new channel islands leash for my new step up. I was intrigued because the shape is square if that makes sense and looks super strong. Too early to tell though.

The only times I've ever "broken" a leash was when the shoestring thing degraded and snapped. These companies seem to have figured out leash durability so I wouldn't worry too much.

Sorry MIS...gotta disagree...love a comp leash on the EC. Particularly love the Creature of Leisure 6' comp (link). Had mine in 8' popoyo surf to knee high NJ surf...always a win and held up fin. Broke only 1 in the last 3 years...

right on l4t, I USED to like them until one day....THEY ATTACK!

they have more play, high elasticity, and lower tensile strength..... this has done me dirty resulting in long swims and head staples. luckily not together in same instance

I have no leash loyalty. Historically, I just pick from shop selection. On my three main boards I have FCS, XM, and Dakine. I like them all.

I just try and keep the newest one on the board I'm likely to use in bigger surf. I always carry a spare. As the leash gets fatigued, I move it to the small wave boards. I use them until they break.

I ALWAYS keep the cuff when they do inevitably break. Tons of uses for them. I have one on my mountainbike to hold the pump to the frame. I use one around the chainside ankle of my pants when I ride a bike. I have one as an adjustable handle on a handplane I made. They come in real handy.

dakine for years, never had one break on me. They have a cuff setup where the stiff part of the velcro is facing away from your leg, which reduces wear on your wetsuites. Just got turned on to ocean earth as they have the same velcro setup, plus a molded extension from the cuff that helps keep the leash from getting tangled. only have one oe but i am really digging it thus far.

I heard Roy Stuart has plans to makes a leash. The leash itself is made out of Koala hair and snake skin and molded into whatever length you want. Very light, soft and strong. The cuff is lined with chinchilla fur, so its very comfortable and warm. The swivels are still under contruction as well as a new velco. He thinks selling price will be somewhere between $1,235.00 and $2,450.00 depending on color and length

But will we have to file down the cuff to fit American ankles?

I agree, Creature's "DNA" flex mold keeps the cord from breaking longer than other brands

...however, Creature's ankle cuff is the worst I've ever had. It's not padded correctly and the plastic reinforcement cuts into my ankle on every wipeout. I have to switch the ankle cuff out for one of my old ones, or I end up with a bruised/raw ankle after every sesh.

    Thank you sir

You know American ankles are very different than those NZ metric ones.

Dakine for leash and traction pads, I have a few FCS too, one of which broke at the little metal connector after years of abuse, haven't broken a Dakine (yet)
