Hey everyone, first time on the site and I really have been trying to find some info on this bz body board I have. I got it many Years back at Ron jons in LBI, and I have never ever seen another one like it. I will post some pics, but it has fins on it, and I have been able to find no info anywhere on it, not even a slight mention of any thing like it. So if any of you fine people here could help me out with some info, and hopefully maybe even a value, as I really hope to sell it as I have only used it once ever before, I would so greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.
http://www.surfertoday.com/bodyboarding/7667-the-best-vintage-bodyboards-in-the-world This article has differrent bodyboards from different time periods including some with fins from the 80s. From what I've heard/what I understand, finned bodyboards actually handle quite well?
Can't do 360's with skegs. They make the board faster since you don't waste energy digging in a rail. They've fallen out of style since people want to do aerials and such. BZ is a crap brand kept alive by the fact that they sponsor the insanely talented Hubb. The stars on the deck are pretty retro or maybe just gay. I'd give you $10 for it. It might be "worth" up to $150 depending on the construction.
Does that say "KM" on it maybe? I'm thinking it might be a Kyle Maligro model, did he ever ride for BZ? I know he got into using fins for dropknee, like this: http://vektorsystems.net/home/home.htm The fin system on it looks pretty slick, the way they are so far forward reminds me of a modern kneeboard, I imagine it's for dropknee. Pretty cool board, I've never seen one like that before.
Pretty neat, from a historical perspective...saw a guy out last year on an old Morey Mach 20, the one w/ retractable skegs, shoulda taken a spin on it. sbx, I've seen those vektor fins and they'e pretty neat, different shape and asymmetrical placement on the board. Welcome aboard Boogeyman! Got skunked today, half a foot with one foot sets, but had some fun bodysurfing and swimming around. Water and day was f'n beautiful. I rode a few waves underwater, all baked
Looks like another one in this thread: http://805bbr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=14668 Super small here this morning, but clean and the water was ridiculously warm
Thanks for all the replys, and yes that one board definitely seems to be the exact same one as mine just a different color. Would anybody have an estimate of value or does up to about $150 seem to sound about right? Really appreciate all the quick responses, learned more about the board in a day then for the 12 years it has been sitting in my closet. I feel bad that I made my mom waste the money on that board all those years ago. I'm only 24 now and I never have been into body boarding that seriously but back when I was about 12 or so and was in Ron jons, I saw it and said I thought it looked cool, and my mom asked do I want it? And of course at that age I said yes without even a thought. Definitely something that should have never been purchased, I think it was around $300-$350, to this day I'm still surprised my mom offered to buy it at that price.
