When I used fins in winter with my 5mil boots, I just bought fins one size larger.

I've heard alot of people with this prob, my friend bodyboards and basically tries to find any pair of fins that are larger than the boots.

Not really. You'd be MUCH better served getting a pair of fin socks. Like the 3mm o'neill heat sock as an example. They also make 5mm fin socks if you want something thicker.

Yes, fin socks when the water is warm, and boots for cold weather. Hard sole boots can be tough to fit in fins, so find boots with out the rigid sole. A lot of bodyboarders where H20 boots.

Get boots. Then ax surf shop dude if she can try swimfins on......slap the boots on when trying on swimfins. Be better if you do this when boots are new, maybe all in one trip. That way she don't go into the shop with boot-rot, urine stank.

Make sure they fit, don't be fidgity trying them on. And don't just buy to buy. Get the right pair.

Good luck on your journey, grasshopper.

How cold are we talking? My feet are fine in 5mm socks with the water temps in the upper 40s. Never tested them out in anything colder than due to me hating the cold. The fin socks work surprisingly well in the cold.
