    I build pretty much with the same method ,so the board can be shaped rather than the internal frame grain style boards that are all preset contours , the grain style boards can be really ugly at the join area between the top and bottom sections that are glued together.this is still basically a blake design style board but nicely engineered and much better for east coast waves rather than the huge things that the gnome builds .WOOD is GOOD

    How much do your boards weigh? The chambered boards always look heavy to me but you can't beat the lines you can create with them. You're right about the fishbone construction, it's hard to get everything glued seamlessly.

    I use paulownia and balsa my 93 x23x3 lb is 24 pounds

    Same surf style too, dropping a load on the bottom turn, then bogging out (actually Roy had more glide to his slide - go figure, Roy's is a 19 foot douchecanoe v. Chucky's 6 footish load dropper).
