need a cheapie board I can abandon when I am done for some slowish 2 to 4 foot typical longboard type waves

never been on a wave storm, so I have no clue if it will do the job or not.

or do i need a greco 9 foot, as that is not nearly as cheap?

    thx

Y you say dead forum? Not much of a "hello" post.... Please intro yourself; post pics of ur girl and the board you ride. Do you have any medicale issues we can help with? When was your last physical? can you swim?

The 8' Wavestorm will have no problem floating you. I highly recommend mounting a go pro on said wavestorm and posting the vids here.

I've ridden them both. The wavestorm will float you better even though it's smaller. The grecos use less buoyant/flimsier foam.

Apologies let me introduce myself properly.

I am 38 with no injuries in very good shape imo. My regular work out is the best 44 bodyweight exercises of which I can do 10 reps on all but 2 (Google it best workout ever made for any sport) . Swimming? Used to swim competitively into college years, fly and backstroke, I still lap train once per week.

15 years ago I used to surf a short board but back then I weighed 185 lbs.

After I snapped that board at Zuma drains I never bought another. And never got on another.

Sports I prefered to surfing (to this day)

    Downhill mtb
    Dirt bike
    Sponging

I been going to Mexico a lot recently where there seem to be lots of longboard breaks so I been messing around on rented boards. I have no idea what I have been riding other than they are big and renting them is expensive. Last year was my first time stand up surfing again in around 12 years. I still go out and sponge at Zuma drains or the wedge but only if it gets big.

I wanted to buy something tough and cheap so people with me can bang the board into everything with out me worrying about the board. Also I just want to have fun surfing I don't really care about much else.

    Thx

Why were u up so early? And what did u delete?

Wavestorms are a blast! Im 6'4" 210 floats my fat nicely. Love how they bend when you go vertical and smash the whitewater.

Was up from drinking too much vodka the sugar in alcohol is like caffeine to me I think.

I deleted post because after I read it I couldn't even understand what I was asking so I called it a night. I tried to really delete the post but couldn't figure out how. Probably my fault for that part too.

Yes! The flexy feeling when you hit the lip or do a floater is awesome. I forgot to mention that bit of magic.

I bought one and was cursed after riding it. I tried to give it to the church auction, but it was cancelled. Then snuck in the night before the church yard sale and left it. It's gone so maybe next year.

oh yeah, trust me, I am under no illusion that I am a better surfer than a wave storm can deliver. So definitely the question was not am I too good for a wave storm, but rather am i too big for a wave storm. But it seems like it will be OK. So I am gonna buy 2, put them in a surf sock, and haul them off to punta mita / sayalita in 10 days.

    thx

I've seen people ride wave storms really good. There's an old guy at pleasure point in Santa Cruz I've seen on the first peak several times with one. And he shreds it. Then again, there are a ton of kooks on them on the second and third peaks...
