I've been in the hunt for the best cross trainer surfskate for a while, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to Carver. I thought that's how it would end up, but the price deterred me at first. I tried the new rip stick today, and it was fun but lacked something that carver had. So if I go for a carver, what truck should I get for the best cross training experience? I know that they recommend certain trucks with certain decks, but what is the better truck?

You're right, thanks for calling me out on my incompetent opinion. I was just sharing that I have the c7, and I love the way my carver feels. I think as I was purchasing my first and only carver I made the right decision, since I was looking for a similar (based on your post) thing that you are searching for now. A surf feeling skateboard. While nothing ever will feel anywhere near what surfing does - on land I very much enjoy my carver... With my c7... To the point where I kinda haven't thought if I'm missing out on the CX... Hope this helps.

I have both the cx and c7. Both are fun in their own way, but I think I recently created the best ride ever. I basically took the cx truck, added the 'gravity thruster system 1' (same as smoothestars, which I imported from Japan on some site called rukaten or something), took a set of gullwing sidewinders and doubled down to make one truck for the back, bought a slightly longer board and presto chango. BEST BOARD EVER. It sits pretty high, but the thing is a magic carpet. My setup has to be one of a kind, but I want to share the stoke on this thing.

In short, buy the cx front truck, import the thruster system 1, buy a set of sidewinders, and search for the perfect deck to fit your size/stance. Also get a wedge riser kit so you can fiddle with the angles of the trucks. Makes a big difference, resulting in different rides from sweeping carves to insanely tight pocket surfing with turns on a 3' radius.

Oh yeah, most importantly, get some zombie hawgs in the white or yellow thane. The let you slash all you want, when you want.

Let me know if you have any questions.

The wheels were the last piece of the puzzle for me.

Wasted a lot of money on boards and wheels getting to where I'm at now. Take my advice and save yourself some dough!

I was thinking about getting a pair of the carver type trucks and putting it on an oldschool Peralta deck. Also been looking at the sidewinder trucks though. They're all over Ebay and are way cheaper than the carvers. Anybody messed with those?

Get a Carver, I got the Taylor Knox pro model, complete board setup, works great, I just don't ride it enough. Why try to mix and match? Just get a complete board setup and be done with it.

I just like my old school decks. Plus I'm looking to save a buck. Might scrounge around craigslist or ebay though.

Definitely need a carver style in my life. Anybody messed with one of those in a pool or pipe?

I have this old water logged Cheech and Chong deck right now. Brought it out last weekend. My buddy and I were revisiting our old ways bombing hills. I could still stick a fakie big spin. Haven't skated in years lol

A fakie big spin after years of no skating? Impressive dude, that's not easy to do.

    WWMdVaNc,
Sounds like quite the setup, I think I'm just gonna start with a carver complete and build from there if it doesn't work how I thought.

no worries dude, i misread into it. as for going with a complete - i think you're right. i'd experiment to get a looser feel out of my longboard (loaded bhangra) but wouldnt touch the carver. i got the USA resin 32.5" - thing WHIPS.

Dang, I saw That model on Craigslist complete for 170, and I had the money in my hand after setting up to pick it up and the guy sold it to someone else an hour before I got there. It's between that and the firefly I think

LOVED my carver board w/ the c7. i tried the CX and def prefer the c7 better. the c7 i feel is a little bit lower and has a looser more natural feel in my opinion.

I skated my carver till i broke the back truck from sliding too many times. I replaced the back truck and the front C7 never let me down...

Someone stole my board right of my car about 6 months ago, and i still havent gotten around to getting a new one. I would have rather given the theif $250 cash, than let em take my board, that damn thing was broken in like a baseball mit. I miss it and will be getting a new one with the C7 again
