Always surfed with contacts. Only time I lost em was when I opened my eyes under water to try to find sinking wax someone had (poorly) tossed my way. Lost em both and couldn't see for sh*t. Otherwise I've always just tried to close my eyes and duck my head when duck diving or getting slapped around.

Been surfing over 20 yrs in contacts. Lost them only once, but lost both of them at the same time paddling into a wave during a strong offshore breeze. I am blind without them and did not have any back ups in the car. I was in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood and it was a holiday so there was a large amount of pedestrian traffic. Wasn't comfortable driving with that much foot traffic around so had to call my brother to bring me some specs to avoid any mishaps on the drive home. Lesson learned, always carry spare set of lenses and/or glasses in the car.

I was born cross-eyed and had to have surgery to cut some eye muscles to set them straight. because of that, i have a sever astigmatism and really s.hitty vision. I also cannot wear contacts because even the custom ordered contacts (which were really expensive) would not sit on my eye properly. So i've worn glasses since i was 3. I am now 20 years old. I just don't wear anything in the water. Somehow I've learned to overcome the depth perception problems and just go surf. I dont know how but its like my vision gets better in the water. I can guarantee I have the worst vision out there most days and still, I can spot out waves before anyone else. I dunno haha. its so weird.

20 years surfing with contacts. In 1999 I got LASIK surgery and have had great vision in and out of the water since. Best $2000 ever spent.

i always used to do it..but they always used to fold over somehow and it really messed with my vision so i would have to rinse it out of my eye with ocean water, hat 1 week contacts.. then one time in the summer one fliped up under my eyelid while surfing and stung like a ***** for a week.... haven't worn contacts since dont matter if stuff is blury when your surfing really..

Wearing contacts while surfing can cause very serious eye health issues. Evil microbes can come under your contact lenses, multiply and make you go blind.

I wear contacts and have lost one eye lens a few times, but never both. I have the Night and Day contacts that i change out every 30 days...you can sleep in them but my eye doctor doesn't recommend it. But after a surf session i always sleep with them out and put them in solution to clean out any salt water residue, as well as give my eyes a breather...
