I use to like Legends SurfShop in OCNJ but they close years ago

 

holy $#!t...someone else who remembers legend's...

mine is also heritage in oc, nj (i may be biased) w/ surfer's supplies a close second

 

hell yeah I remeber them I thing I got a cpl of there t-shirts somplace around here.

I like Surfer Supplies too but I rarley go in there. Only if my other 2 favorite shop dont have what I need and I need it quick

Heritage sells the boards I like and Woodys is my hookup for everything else I need

 

I'm not really one to go in, and browse the Shops, but I like Heritage, and 7th st. I have checked out Woody's also. Checked out Wooden Jetty in Beach Haven. I saw an ad for one in Brigantine somewhere the other day online. I can't remember if it was on here or if it was on The Surfers View or what.

All the shops mentioned so far are great. Another one is Ocean Outfitters in Wildwood Crest - Jeff Walden. Its nice to support local surf shops that sell real boards especially ones shaped by east coast shapers. Also its nice that you don't have to walk past isles of bicycles and toys to get to them.

Kevin works on Sunday, definitely talk to him if you are looking to buy a new board or wet-suit. The dude is stoked on finding everyone the right board/wetsuit. He will ask you questions to find out where you want to take your surfing instead of just pushing product out the door to make a sale.

Yeah Jeff is a good guy , I have bought a few boards off him in the past along with other surf needs.

know what you mean about weaving your way past the bikes and sporting goods to get the the Surf stuff Thats why I only go there if its a last resort

 

i'll pretend like you actually don't know this...

its on LBI. literally the first town you hit after you go over the bridge. if you have ever been on LBI you have been in ship bottom

 

Agreed on Woody's disagree on OO. If you ride a log, OO is a good shop. Pretty pricey tho and not a great shop for shortboarders. also, if a shop isn't open year round is it really a shop for surfers?

Yo Kevin Cook is the man! My first board I found at a garage sale was like 50 bucks it was a 5 10 custom shaped by a guy named Kevin Cook. At the time I had no idea who this guy was but a couple of years ago I was in surf shack looking for a board and turns out the guy helping me out was that guy. He laughed pretty hard when I told him. I brought that old POS board into him, he was soooooo stoked! It was one of his first boards and he was utterly amazed that the thing was still in one peice. Anyway the guy is absolutely all about surfing and lives to help out other surfers find the right board or wetsuit.

Definitely agree with Wild Ocean. As far as OO - I guess they lean more to longboarders but they carry a lot of short boards. He's not open all winter cause the Crest is sort of dead in the winter and the years he tried it - it really wasn't worth it. The Crest is not like OC where theres people in the water all winter long and its kind of in the middle of everything. No matter how you look at it - surf shops are still a business where people need to support their family. If its not profitable to stay open whats the sense. But hey, thats why I use Surfers Supplies and Heritage in the winter months and they are closer to where I surf in the winter.

 

Haha yeah i wish i had Kevin Cook's positive mental attitude towards surfing. That's the real surfer mentality.

Jeff at OO is ver knowledgable and get set you in the right direction . If you know what you want in the winter he will open the shop for you by appointment cause like said the crest is dead in the winter.

Chris & Kelly at Woody's are great . They have a staff that knows about what they are selling and are very knowledgable aswell and can hook you up with what will suit or needs skate shortboard, longboard they got it covered.

Wild Ocean I wouldnt piss on that store if it was on fire. They Have the little army and act like they own the beach in Wildwood. If you got in there store they kinda try to make yo look stupid and sell you something even if it dont suit your needs or you skill level.

Thats the only shop I would never got in to . They dont know how to treat there customers. And if you have a buisness that kinda important I think

 

I didn't see anyone mention this shop, but....Root Beer Barrel Surfshop in Brigantine....I like them better than Primal, but he's not open year round!
