Absolutely should be suspended...hope the consequences as strong and swift. Smh...no language barrier about what he did and said...he knows better and wanted to make a point of his perceived situation publicly...sore loser is right.

The competitors should be able to say what they want. Even though Gabby is being a sore loser he defiantly shouldn't be suspend or fined.

Should be suspended.... millions of kids watching their hero's surf...no reason to act like that in front of media....that was a boneheaded move the so called champ pulled....micro should've been pissed.

    +1

Gotta model a certain amount of character and professionalism at that level...even Kelly complained about calls similar to that but he always had a bit more tact!

Sorry there chief hardly a kid here...fact of matter is that he should be a professional and model appropriate character (at the very least) in front of the camera as a "world champion"...should be an expectation of every "professional" athlete. As for your "bro-lete" abilities...sure do whatever you think is best ya big rippa'. But surfers at that level should expect (and should be expected) to hold it together for the groms at the very least. your historical perspective of professional surfing is small...its not the 70s anymore and the "dream tour" requires a higher commitment than what had previously been expected--including when engaging with the public.

Professional surfing is idiotic. Following and panting over professional surfing is even more idiotic.
Surfers owe nothing to groms, or, even less to their parents.
    just opinion of course....

I agree with that opinion. He screwed up in a heat, and dropped the f-bomb to an interviewer. Why does surfing, just because theres lot of money at stake now, have to become like figure skating? The only repercussion for something like this should be his sponsors deciding if they really care about it, and of course the interference call which he deserved and got. If parents and groms cringe at the sound of a kid shooting his mouth off, then they should probably not not be getting into surfing.

You can complain about the judges, you can even call out an opponent but to dump on KP for the waves which is out of his control is a joke. I think a majority of the older guys on tour are going to be more offended about the KP swipe then the other stuff. I would of loved to see a medina/micro beach fight. that would have been rad.

^^^^That's a fair point imho...like it or not it is a competitive sport and one that influences "surf culture" as well as youth. Ever been burned by a local-pro and then by a wannabe grom in the same session. Usually, there's an entitlement and connection between perspectives, style, etc. do I talk with the grom...sure...burn if necessary sometimes...issue is that youth are influenced by older peers, esp. When it comes to the "pros" regardless of parental influence and oversight. Ever hear or use, FU wax, Knubster, a thruster, all became hot stuff after pros began using them...all positive examples...of healthy influence...there is an opposite side to that as well.

again a bit of a rant, but I enjoy the professional side of the sport. Don't get me wrong...I'd love machado, rastavich, Tudor, and the rest of the ride anything free-surfer side. But it's these pros that start setting the bar for people...wonder who John John looked up to growing up, most of the ride anything guys were originally pros who became burnt out...rant over...

I caught the Glenn Hall interview, but missed cry baby's. They took it down for "WSL copyrights".

Glenn was super cool about getting dueshed, and Medina was even more of a duesh about being a duesh, when hit with the reprecussions for his dueshiness. What a dueshbag.

For many, when they act like an a$$hole, and realize that someone else recognized they were being an a$$hole, they retaliate by being even more of an a$$hole.

That scenario is unfortunately too familiar.

HELP, PLEASE! If I watch this correctly. Madina had the right of way! I'm obsessed with getting my etiquette right so why did he get interference if he was almost to his feet? Do I have these guys mixed up? someone straighten me out, PLEASE!
