so the advertisement up top for the goofboard caught my eye, and it makes pretty good sense that riding the pipe parallel would more closely simulate surfing. I already do this with my indoboard just to mess around sometimes. are we looking at the "next big thing"?

i think the goofboard is a bit of a gimmick. the indo board (or a piece of wood with a 6" PVC pipe) relates better to the balance of surfing than the goofboard does. If you need training as the goofboard provides, you might as well hop on a skateboard and practice your carves. Just my opinion.

I made a bunch of Indo boards as Christmas gifts back when I had no money. I didn't put the stops on the bottom so you can just flip it sideways and have both an indo board or a goof board. It cost me like $20.

Grabbed a cheap peice of pine board or a stair tread might work too. Cut it in an oval or just use a jigsaw to round off the corners on each square side, and sanded the edges, this isn't necessary but my hardwood floors would have paid for it if I didnt. Throw some grip tape on it if you want, I just threw a sticker on the center.

I did this a couple different times. Once was a test board (my personal board) the others were for gifts, the third a girl who ran a lacrosse camp actually paid me to make her 25 of them.

As far as the PVC goes, on the first one I grabbed a couple of couplings and a couple small pieces of PVC and pieced the roller together with PVC primer and glue (that stuff bonds PVC like no other). No sand inside and I didn't cap the ends. The couplings added to the price though.

The second and third time I got smart since I was making a bunch of them and grabbed an 8 ft. piece of PVC and cut it up into equal sizes. This was the easiest way and cheapest way.

If you have a bunch of friends grab a 8' length of PVC and cut it up and give them the board and just give it to them for cost plus maybe a little for your time and efforts. They'll happily pay $20 or $25 for this setup since it works great and is more than $100 less than the name brand.

I seen a video on you tube of a Demo of the goofboard. I like it cause it relates alot to longboarding . You and practice cross stepping and balance at the same time liek you should
