Heading down to the Deep South next week for some biz. I won't be too far away from Gulf Shores so was thinking of heading there and kicking it for a couple days when I'm done with the few busy days of work. Seeing if any of you brahs got the haps on the craps down there.

I have zero delusions of catching any swell there although MSW has a miraculous swell there on the days I would be showing up. Won't bank on that actually happening but if it did, well I'd be trunking it in 81F water with clean OH+ for at least a day based on that report. Even with no swell at all, I'd be very pleased with skating the crap out of the place as well as hitting the beach and scene.

Details anyone? I know it's close to P-cola so that's an option too.

Thanks braddah! I actually had no idea that a swell was even a chance down there and had assumed not until I was halfway through typing that post and saw the long-term forecast. Damn near schitt ma britches!!! Everything can change between now and then but if it's anything close to that I'm completely stoked. This could be great payback because I had to go on this same work trip last year and missed the whole Andrea swell which is basically all we got all summah!

If I can shuttle between Gulf Shores and P-cola for 3-4 days of surf and fun then I will have no complaints coming home to flatness for a while. Then again, the day I'd be coming back has some juice on the radar back up here too. It's all a myth until it's reality though. At least this week's punch is not a myth because it's actually here and I'm hitting DP with vigor in a few hours.

Any you brahs got low down on AL shores and the panhandle drop your boy (or enemy) Spicoli a post or PM! Heck, like metard says, post up good non-surf stories of the area if that's all you got and we will discuss.

Guff Sho has a ton of bars. But, this time of year, the place is full of "snowbirds", old geezes in motor home. Pcola may be your best bet for nite life and beach combo.

The Gulf is the Gulf, alotta mushy, bumpy, washing machine... but, there is usually something logable out there if you look.
    Sometimes, it can surprise.
If that L in the Carribean enters Gulf, might get a lil ground swell with some fetch to it ;)
    Good luck!

    Thanks bros! Keep it comin.

chich, you think the wahine scene will be mackin way more in P-cola?

chad, I think that is what is the cause behind the sick forecast 10-12 days from now in the Gulf. They're calling for 10s period which is far from windswell. A long time away for sure, but wouldn't it be nice.

Deets braddahs, places to see, people to do, parks to skate, let me know all the secrets buoys. I have not charged these shores prior and do want to hit it right.

If you get swell on the buoy in the Yucatan Channel heading from the south, you will get waves. I was living in Montgomery, AL and we'd drive down to Panama City Beach and head west and we would find something (late spring is good there once in a while). Just west of the Florida state line is a place called Alabama Point, and if it is over shoulder high sell, it will break way way outside near the buoy in the channel. Don't pay the shorebreak no mind. Look way outside and see if you see whitewater near the buoy every so often. I know Pensacola has waves - there is a spot called Pine Trees, but I've never surfed it. Enjoy the fried seafood and the local splittail.

Thanks for the link chad! Good luck emass. I know there are some webcams I used to check when I was working in New Orleans and considering making the drive. Just do a search. Hope you score.

It's a shame you weren't down there right now, looks like they just had some waist+ glassy conditions that are coming to a close right now. I noticed it when looking at the radar for PR. SI has the swell ending right now. It's worth getting out in the water, waves or no waves, just watch out for oil slicks.

spring is usually the most consistent time for surf in that area...but going all the way to pensacola from gulf shores is unnecessary.

Perdido pass in Orange beach is an hour closer than p-cola, but has about the same surf. There's a good sandbar sticking out just west of the pass and a bunch of mini sandbars all the way to the pier. If it's big and windy from the east, the west jetty ("Alabama point") is the best option in the entire panhandle.

More great stuff bros keep it up!

P-cola is only 35 miles from Gulf Shores so I'm not shy about that if it's any better. Is Gulf Breeze where to surf there? It looks like a barrier island. I could also head to Destin and the report looks even better there. I'd think that's usually the case. Alabama Point looks cool. Breakwater surfing.

That's the spot, but if you're lucky, it will be breaking on the outside. I was the only one who paddled out there, way out there by the buoy. All the locals ( six of them) were surfing the shorebreak at about waist to chest. It was head high rights into the channel on the outside, and I had boaters coming up to me asking it I needed help getting to shore. "You allright?" I bummed a Budweiser off one of them. It was nice and cold. Southern hospitality is no myth.

Pcola is full of zoomies, squids, and other "heroes" so that means the wives will be there too. Plus the local inbreds may be looking to get some new genes in their pool. I.E., Plenty of pooswah.
