Haha yeah WB is much clearer but CB is nice and blue compared to the brownish green up here in NJ. As for the vibe, that is why I've only surfed in WB once.

I always wait for a storm, then sip the sweet nectar as it mingles with the runoff from Canal St. Delish!!!

Unfortunately the lifeguards were shutting down every other beach except this one... so I was stuck either surfing there or going home for the time.... and with just 5 people in the lineup, this dbag turned it into a paddle battle....

There are some days that as soon as my feet touches the water, I hate every living, breathing soul that is within 100 yards around me.

One thing that gets me livid is when someone paddles from like 50 yards away to sit right on top of me and paddle battle me for a wave. Even if you are deeper, if you do this, I cut you off. I mean, what? Do I have to start paddling in circles to claim a wave that is coming straight for me?

I'm usually pretty good about avoiding crowds. I love when I am surfing like 200 yards from a big crowd and then get a good wave and the whole F*cking crowd paddles down to where I am. Then I catch one in and steal their spot. Works for about a half hour before they realize what just happened, and by then I'm ready to smoke some more bath salts anyways.

It's summer in jersey get over it. Take what you get. My a** will be paddling for whatever I can. I hattteeee the long boarders on 10ft boards sitting 200 yards out that paddle for every single set wave. Annoying doesn't even describe that. Therefore, I could care less old or young, I will paddle and cut someone off catching every set wave. No matter others perspective on me I will still do what I want especially in summer when not a clue of surfing etiquette is remembered.

P.s fall and winter will be here soon :)

Right on. Better hope that Sloop does not read this - he may accuse you of being a "summer pro."

Wow! Seriously? Seems like a great way to have a lousy time in the water. Over aggressive chasing 1 ft NJ summer slop.

when conditions are that sloppy everyones fighting for the same single good wave..and everyone in the line up deserves a fair shot, violence isnt the answer but unfortunately thats the society we live in. suck it up!

But Laird Hamilton paddles out at your local break on a 12 tanker to ride that garbage and you'll take the scraps.funny thing is- he'll share.

Really laird Hamilton? I highly doubt he would even consider surfing this slop. He would laugh, get on a plan and go to mavericks or somewhere worthy of waves which is not nj. Be real now. Stay out the water so I can have fun chasing 1 foot slop :) and I have no problem sharing. That's how it should be but unfortunately people on rhino chasers that take every wave deserve to be cut off. I have no problem with older dudes that can't get up as fast on a short board that need a bigger board by any means. Oh and know how to let some pass by them.

Sorry HH, but you're just wrong. I surd with Laird Hamilton at my home break in tiny waves and he was on a 10+ longboard having a blast. All the nornal barkers in the water waited for scraps. The rest of us shared waves and had a blast. Plus he's got little kids and takes them out to learn. So back to the point, try some restraint next time. You might enjoy surfing instead of leaving the water pissed off.

Anytime I surf I'm always a better person leaving than before I entered the water

That's exactly what I'm looking forward too. I already commute about the same distance but driving home to CB everyday would just be surreal. Being able to walk out my door and right into the water...I can't get there fast enough! I'll be down there this weekend, see you guys out there!

This is really the thing isnt it? its fine to ride long board, esp in small summer waves but just b/c you can catch every wave doesnt mean you should? too many longboarders and SUPers go after every single wave that comes in, paddle right back outside of everyone else, wash, rinse and repeat.

If someone no matter what they are riding is going for every single wave that comes through, they should be regulated on (in a non-violent manner) i.e. hey buddy, how bout letting some through for the rest of us?
