Hey folks, Been surfing for several years, however just now learning about shapes, etc. I've been riding a performance 9'2" for a while, but wanted to get into noseriding, so I pulled the trigger on a pretty good deal for a classic looking 10'0" board. I've been doing a few repairs on it, so I haven't even taken it out yet, but in reading about longboard shapes/noserider shapes, I'm seeing that "tail lift" is a big deal. I'm assuming this means there is rocker in the tail, but I don't really understand how that's supposed to look exactly. Here are a few pics of my new board, just curious if I'm gonna be shooting myself in the foot trying to noseride this baby, or if it will work out ok. I know the rails are 50/50 and it's got some nose concave/scoop, I just don't know about the "tail lift" thing... Thanks for any help/tips!! (I'm 5'10, 160lbs, if you care to know)
I didn't look at the pictures. No need to. At that weight and a 10 foot board....yes you can nose ride it
I have seen people noseride bendy banana soft tops all day long. So dont worry about the board. Practice cross stepping on land and walk to the nose every chance you get.
Wow really really nice shape Don't worry about all the little shaping designs.... Once you know how to nose ride you can pretty much nose ride any longboard. 1st learn to cross step and walk on the board. 2nd stall/shove the tail of the board into the curl of the wave and run up to the nose. (Once you get better you really don't need to do this- you just gotta be on a steeper part of the wave) Btw where did you find the board??
