So I am once again moving from the NE coast to FL. I know how to prevent rashes while in a wetsuit.. (I carry dedicated big Chapstick for my trouble spots before putting on my wetsuit.). But I find when surfing in just board shorts I always get the inside of my legs, my armpits, inside of knees, and of course my chest rubbed raw. I know this thread has come up but I couldn't find it in recent search. Let me know your solutions!

Rash guard and compression shorts. I skip the rash guard personally and deal with the pit rash, but I do wear the compression shorts under my board shorts and that does the trick

    1. Surf until you're leathery.
    2. Get body hair.
    3. Figure out how to surf without your flesh rubbing against itself.

    One of these should work.

Try this if you are surfing with Wayne.

Hahaha, love me some bacon lube. Might try this tonight to relieve my current underarm situation.

Personally, I never had problems with me leg area, but I did used to get some stomach rash. This year I have been wearing a rash guard every session. At first, it feels weird, but now I can't even tell I have it on. No worrying about rash. I stay on the board better while paddling (sun block is so greasy). The biggest plus is never having to worry about frying my back in the sun. I am very happy that I don't need to worry about sunblock on the back, chest, or stomach. The only con is the farmers tan, but that can be easily resolved with some limited sun bathing time on the beach.

Inexpensive nylon, running shirt from Target - sleeveless or short sleeve. Snug fitting is best.
Board shorts from TJ Max. Sometimes I'll wear compression shorts underneath. Try not to wax the rails where inside of your legs are positioned when seated on the board, as wax pulls the hair.
Or shave chest and legs. Don't really recommend that. In my days, real men would never do such a thing!
Don't forget sunblock on sun exposed areas. I use the Banana Boat for kids. Has Zinc oxide. Back of my neck can really get it, so sometimes I'll tie a bandana around by neck. May look odd or "gay", but I don't care.
If end up with farmer's tan and don't like it, just do some yard work outside on a sunny day with your shirt off.
After the job's done, sit outside and have a beer.

TriSlide works pretty well (locate it on triathlon websites).
BodyGlide works really well esp for that inside leg chafe thing but it's an expensive product.
Rash guard & compression shorts as mentioned by DP-SUP.

And unequivocally what Carter rec'd if waynetheinsaaaane is hovering nearby. (classic post Carter)

I get it when I havnt surfed in a while it seems. When I surf for a few days it will go away it seems like. Other wise I just suck it the **** up. Most ill do is throw on a cotton t shirt if I feel like I'll get surf burnt but that only happens in the beginning of summer after the wetsuit comes off.

yeah like everyone is saying, get a pair of underarmor shorts to wear under your boardies. I wear em under my wetsuits too since they don't ride up like boxers do. as for your stomach/chest grab t-shirt or rash guard. you can try jelly belly, but you'll just slide off your board. other than that it's surf as much as possible, deal with the pain and over time your skin with grow accustomed too it

Toughen up and rub some goddam dirt on it. Seriously though, I go through the same thing every year when it warms up. I just fight through until my body toughens up. I use rash guards to protect from the sun, after a half dozen or so sessions, my body adjusts.

    I believe that.

Put you & zdrescher in a room & the non-stop chattering could make old women envious.

rash guard for your chest and arms.
it also does double duty to keep the sun off your back. getting little sections of cancer cut out of your back will make you wish you always wore a rash guard.
