No way. That newspaper is called "The Chron"!?!

Is that for real? If so, the reporting quality is right on par with our Atlantic City press... And great name!

Everything is bigger in Texas. Except for the waves and the sharks apparently.

    Shark Attack Surfside Sharkie

This shark attack yesterday on this poor kid is a somber reminder of the oceans hazards. It has the tendency to make surfers questions the reason for their their sport. I woke up looking at my surfboards and questioning is it worth it to go surf. And my conclusion is""yes". The hazards in the ocean are no worse than driving in a car, walking through the woods, or hang gliding, flying in a plane. These are the dangerous things in this world that increase our risk of being harmed. I have been chased and circled by a shark in the Surfside surf zone, and it is scary. However I have surferd for two years here. And other than a couple of stitches from my surfboard hitting me, and being washed off the jetties, its been uneventful as far as danger of my life. And this shark attack on this kid happened at 3pm , so the myth that sharks are more active at dawn and dusk is questioned as well. The good thing as surfers and swimmers in Texas at least these are only shark bites and not amputations of limbs from white sharks on the west coast of the U.S.

No doubt its worth it to surf my brother, and I'm sure some big ones pass us by all the time in our murky waters with out us knowing... The thrill of a good ride will always out weigh the fears and possibility of injury or attack, for me at least and I hope the same for everyone. Usually though when its waist high or bigger the thought of a shark hardly passes through my mind haha
