Just recently moved down to Broward County from NJ. Looking for some spots to surf at(good breaks & allowed to surf at) Trying to avoid driving to Palm Beach I know it will probably be better and bigger at times but unless its really firing just want something further south fun to ride.
You need to post a pic of your girlfriend/boyfriend/dog and your favorite board. How much can you bench? Can you swim? Do you SUP? What is your favorite colour. What is the average weight of a swallow? Try the Deerfield Pier. It is the epicenter of Broward surfing. Make sure you wear a speedo.
Sorry to hear that. I did the same thing thirty years ago. There is no surf in Broward County. Friggin' Bahamas bro. Go north. Or south. South beach has friendly and welcoming locals. You'll fit right in. BTW, if I find you surfing any of my spots I'll throw your sh!t in the water (i.e. you'll get pitted).
I moved to Broward County 22 years ago from Maryland. I wouldn't say there is no surf here, but there isn't much. The majority of waves here are windchop. Wind usually has to blow around 15mph from the East/Southeast to get anything rideable. There is supposed to be some groundswell here this Thursday which doesn't happen that often. Coming from New Jersey you probably will be disappointed. You will eventually learn that you just have to take whatever you can get.
I lived down there for 3 years...definitely need a quiver there. SUP and rooftop sailboat are the staples. Longboard and groveler for the usual knee-high windswell (chop) and a standard shortboard for those couple days a year when the waves are decent size/clean. Also helps if you're well under 150 lbs (the humidity will help you sweat some of that off). Groms and skinny teens do o.k. in SoFL and the Gulf...adults, not so much. Start smoking weed...it's the local cure for boredom.
Everyone knows the best spot for surf is hollyhood bch, right behind jimmy buffets margaritaville. Yewwwww!
Dood! It's firing already. I was down there Saturday and it was a shack fest! not gonna lie, that was my first time at a running Flo rida and it looked supa ghey. Fuk it, I'd give it a try.
Betty introduced me to half the people on the beach and not you? She was probably still ticked that I scolded her on her impropre leash edicate. Always have fun there. Six hours on the wave surfing bored. Didn't want to leave but I was out of fuel. I'll be up againe soon enough.
Man, I gotta go check that thing out. Never seen one in person. I'll probably be in awe. Say, is one still getting 'pitted' if one gets one's stuff tossed into the FlowRider?
