Anyone ever just use permanent marker on a surfboard? Does it stick? I don't want to do it and then have it smear all over the place
I would prime it like you would if you were going to be using spray paint or paint markers... sand it lightly with a high grit paper, draw, and use a water proof fixative on it to be sure.
I use oil based markers, then spray a clear enamel over it, it lasts a really long time (just be sure the board is really clean before you start)
I like to use... 1. Fine Steele Wool. I rub surface, then clean with denatured alcohol three times. Surfboards use a wax in the last coat. You need to remove that substance, so rub hard and clean well. 2. Use acrylic paint or water based markers. Acrylic dries hard as rock and is friendly indoors/enviroment. 3. Epoxy Spray Paint Clear Matte finish on top. This stuff is nasty so use out side and with a mask. 12" away, spray light coats with a 1000 grit light dry sand in between coats. Use 5 coats with sanding between each. 4. After last coat, use a 1200 grit wet sand. Use water and slide lightly. Car wax on top for some shine! 5. Lasts forever!
i have a friend who is a amazing artist im pretty sure that he designs surfboards. go to his website carvinart.com he made all those paintings and stuff
