How many of you guys have tried this? I am picking up my first Harley next week, thinking about jerry rigging some type of bike rack to mount to the motorcycle. I looked online and haven't really seen many DIY projects doing this. Anyone have any advice/pictures/links to articles on ways to do this? Much thanks.

thanks man, ya i pretty much assumed that would happen and cause horrible apeed wobbles. I was thinking more along the lines of putting it in the back of the bike. Ill just stick with my board in the back of my truck haha

On a Harley you are crazy. Those things are made for bar hopping and blvd. cruising. And the balance is way off on them anyway with their stupid non- unit style of primary drive and transmission setup from 1925. Ever notice how your hog is not symmetrical standing over the top of it? The motorcycle surfboard rack thing I think is completely open to interpretation. The side mount looks completely crazy. Maybe angle mount behind the rider nose or tail up? I think those hipster dudes Deus Ex Machina were building custom small bikes to ride to the beach with because they build some bikes in Bali to ride to the break. Hope you don't have to ride far. Maybe one of those Gold Wing trailers I see behind Q-tips couples cruising with could hold a surfboard? It would look right behind a hog anyway. Good luck and God speed. And please put some clothes on when you ride (boots and pants and boots and pants) first Harley dude. Lots of legs and feet have been lost without 'em on Harleys. I'm astounded when I see hodads riding with sandals, board shorts and no shirt.

Been riding a Harley or Triumph for over 35 years and been surfing for longer. Never have the two met. Keep em separate lad, like a girlfriend and a wife. And you don't ride your Harley to bar hop or cruise the blvd. You ride your Harley to ride your Harley. Yuppie RUB (Rich Urban Bikers) are the same as Summer surfers.
