Hi im a 15 year old from Georgia who likes to surf and bodyboard. I am on a little vacation to Orange Beach, AL with my friend who also has the same interest. Later this week the surf is called for around 3 and 2-4 feet. We are staying on the beach and I was curious if anyone surfs the Gulf Coast or has tried to. What's the break like and the power of the waves like? Thanks.
^true. You're "scoring" with any waves during summer in the gulf. Unfortunately, when they do get waves, it's usually weak, sloppy local windswell...if not just pure unridable wind chop. This wed and Thurs are forecast to be clean in the morning, but break on the boogie boards for friday's chop whomping. Saturday might clean up a little in the late afternoon. The best spots in gulf shores are alabama point inlet (west side) and the rivermouth at west beach blvd (although pensacola, fl is more consistent). A longboard is the call in the gulf, but I hope you, at least, have a super groveller. Wear plenty of sunscreen - the areas ultra white sand beaches will scorch you quicker than you ever thought (I know, I spent all my summers there as a kid).
Okay thanks we are going to try that inlet and hopefully we can make the most of gulf coast surf haha.
