It seems both sites are very opposite in posting the surf report. One will say 3 to 5 feet, and the other will say 1 to 2 feet. So which one should I use?
the convenient route is oft-times the rough road If you understand how the forecast 'gets done' then Surfline has a ton of valuable info. HD cams are fun to look at, but hardly the be-all on whether to paddle out. Highly recommended on Surfline: the 4-day nearshore & the 5 day LOLA. Also check out windguru.com. ('Cause swell don't mean a thing if it got too much wind.) If you want pretty accurate wind forecasts, the tide info, & frequently updated swell forecast then Swellinfo is a good resource. MS has done a good job of dumbing it down to the common denominator (and this is kudos, not criticism). Plus, MS is very conscious of his audience & pays attention to what east coast guys would like from a forecasting site. Cool. Combine wind, swell, tide info with what direction the sand under your feet is facing & you can pretty much get a gameplan. If you just want somebody to tell you where to go surf, well, then...you is what it is.
swell info for the forecast hands down, it is pretty spot on and when it is not, it is usually under forecasted which is nice for me and the guys here so its not crowded. just my .02
ITS all swell baby,1)accurate forecasting 2)The forum has more interesting characters then fake wrestling 3)If its fo free its fo me 4)Besides the stay thirsty dude who is cooler then the little green man.Seriously
I've grown out of surfline, watch the surf news there. Swellinfo by far has the best forecasting. Love it when you get the chime in's on the forum from the staff! Thesurfersview by far has the best cams! Also you all should check out Prosurfcoaches on facebook, Robbie will coach your sessions and does a daily eyeball surf forecast which is fantastic. Swellinfo life would not be the same with you! Thanks Dawg get pitted.
just like action above me said robbies the man. Swellinfo is prob the best one out there but no one does it better then robbie look up pro surf coaches on facebook then subscribe to their eyeball report and if you live in the new jersey/ new york region you will get updates on any and every swell thats coming our way. plus he runs a killer surf camp called happy barrels
every morning i get up and check swellinfo and magicseaweed. I print off magicseaweed and then take it with me to the bathroom because it makes great toilet paper.
Ha! Swell Info hands down for forecasting NC. I compare the winds and wave heights to this tool I have on my favorite fishing site fryingpantower.com--the tool is called Reefcast. MSW for Caribbean forecasting, mainly Barbados Surfline for the the news
Swellinfo has a good forcast for couple days in advance. Surfline has better longrange projection, like for surf trips.
