i am looking to do wood veneer on the deck of a board an i am wondering what the best method for applying veneers on the deck would be , when i was shopping for wood veneers i noticed that they are about 1/32 inch thick which leaves me thinking i could just mark my lap line plane the deck down till the veneer is flush with the lap line then apply glue to the bottom of the veneer and just glass over it normally no problem. anyone else have any experience with this ?

    Nice work

Thanks for the link. Well documented including all the frustrations along the way. Building your own board always gives you a very healthy respect for what surfboard builders go through. A very nice product.

What kind of wood were you looking to use? Ive been building bamboo veneer and balsa skinned boards for a little while. You can get the bamboo from certainlywood.com The best way to attach veneer is to vacuum bag on the wood, with a layer of 4 oz fiberglass cloth and resin underneath the wood. Below is a link to a couple pictures of the process im talking about.
