Jon Wegener Alaia surfing in Rhode Island
Jon Wegener of Wegener surfboards stopped over in Rhode Island to talk about the Alaia boards they are making. He also gave us a little demonstration and let us all go out and try for a few waves on the beautiful hand crafted Alaia. The waves were almost non existent, mushy, shin to knee high slop, but as you can see, even in crap surf, these boards really fly. They are insane belly boards, and are very difficult to get standing on. It's like learning how to surf all over again. Jon makes it look easy. All in all, they're beautiful hand crafted works of art, and it was a privilege to meet Jon and ride a Wegener board.
